UFC star Kevin Holland has called out Nate Diaz with the hope of being the last man to fight the Stockton king before he leaves the promotion.
The enigma that is Nate Diaz has already caused the UFC quite a few headaches over the course of the last few years. From tough negotiations to public social media disputes and beyond, the two parties have struggled to come to any kind of mutual agreement.
Diaz currently has one fight left on his UFC deal and nobody really knows who is going to get the call to take on the former lightweight title challenger - but if a certain âTrailblazerâ gets his way, itâll be Kevin Holland who steps up to the plate.
Holland is as eccentric as he is talented in the cage with his confident style often leaving fans confused and entertained in equal measure. Now, after his last two wins over Alex Oliveira and Tim Means, heâs ready for a step up in competition, with Diaz being the man he has his eye on.
âIâll take anyone. Heâll take anyone. @NateDiaz209 letâs do this for everyone! @danawhite I think this moves the needle! I want all the smoke both inside and outside the cageâ
He may not be a fighter with the same kind of name value that weâre used to seeing go up against Diaz, but if anyone is going to bring the heat and make the build-up incredibly fun, itâs going to be Kevin Holland.
Who are the other contenders?
Whether you like him or hate him, nobody can deny that Nate Diaz is still one of the biggest stars in this sport.
The 37-year-old has been offered top contenders in the past and he likely will be again, but the real money would be in him squaring off against someone with his kind of drawing power.
Jorge Masvidal, Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor are the three most obvious candidates and it really isnât that hard to picture all three giving Diaz a run for his money with the trash talk.
Nate may want to go down the Jake Paul boxing route next year but for his UFC swansong, heâll want to go out in style.
