The file size of The Last of Us Part 1 has now been revealed and the game has a huge download size when compared with the remaster.
Naughty Dog has confirmed that it is working on the remake of one of the most iconic games of the PS3 console generation.
Of course, the game is coming to PS5 so Naughty Dog are going to be making some deep changes to the game in order to bring it up to scratch for the next generation.
The Last of Us Part 2, by comparison, launched with a file size of 72.95GB, which was no surprise when players finally saw the truly gorgeous visuals present in the game.
The Last of Us Part 1 actually tops that number, and clocks in at 79GB, as per Pledge Times. That is the minimum file size and a day one patch could well take the game over 80GB.
That’s a fair whack of your console storage gone if you do want to play the remaster, and is also a significant change from the remaster.
That had a file size of around 40.5GB, around half of what is here for TLOU Part 1.
The latter, though, has support for a much higher frame rate, updated graphics and character models, as well as a number of gameplay changes that will make the PS5 version all the more playable.
One can expect the remake to do remarkably well, too; the first game was a critical darling and a huge commercial success for the studio, receiving a Metacritic score of 95 from 98 critic reviews, and a user score of 9.2 from 13,511 ratings.
Compared with the sequel, it could be fair to argue that it has also aged better than it’s older brother, which received a 93 Metacritic score and a user score of just 5.7 from 158,757 reviews.
The Last of Us Part 1 is releasing on September 2nd on PS5, with a PC release date to be announced.
