Red Dead Redemption: PS3 game has a time limit, hints at remake

Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption is included in the PS Plus Premium tier after the service underwent a significant revamp but the game also has a time limit, potentially raising hopes of an upcoming remaster from Rockstar.

As per The Gamer, there are a selection of PS3 games that are available to download as part of the premium tier on PS Plus.

Red Dead Redemption is included in that as it has previously been available to play on PS Now, and has now been moved over, which makes complete sense.

However, it also appears to have an expiration date on it, and is the only PS3 game to do so.

Chris Klippel, of Rockstar Mag, noticed that the game expires on PS Plus on October 17th. He checked, and found that the only other title with an expiration date is Undead Nightmare, the spin-off from RDR.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has a time limit on PS4 too, but there are a few PS4 games with time limits, so that one doesn’t stick out quite as much.

Klippel was asked about this on Twitter and replied: “Yes, it’s strange. We checked the 140 PS3 games ourselves. Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are the only games that won’t stay indefinitely…”

Red Dead Redemption 2 is expected to release update 1.27 next.

Klippel has pointed out that the expiration date may also have ported over from the old PS Now service, meaning that it may be the date it was always meant to drop off the service.

But it could also be a hint at a potential remaster that could be coming down the line.

There have been numerous rumours about the prospect of an RDR remake, and it remains to be seen if these get confirmed over the coming months.

As it stands, though, there has been no official confirmation from Rockstar that they are working on remastering the cowboy classic.
