Barcelona had an underwhelming 2022/23 season.

The Catalan giants failed miserably in the Champions League as they were knocked out in the group stage.

They failed to win the Europa League, were dumped out in the early stages of the Copa del Rey and were beaten by Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España.

At one stage it looked as if they would fail to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League, but Xavi's arrival as manager bought about a turn in fortunes.

The Barcelona legend replaced Ronald Koeman as manager in November and helped guide the club to a second place finish.

Xavi will now be looking to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window in order to close the gap to fierce rivals, Real Madrid.

It's well known that Barca are cash-strapped but the club will nevertheless be looking to improve as much as they can.

So, who does Xavi want to sign and how could Barcelona line-up next season?

Barcelona could look very different next season if Xavi gets his way.

Gerard Pique has reportedly been told by Xavi that he is no longer wanted at the club after 14 years, per Sport.

Xavi 'dreams' of replacing him with Kounde, who has been impressive for Sevilla over the past few years. He would form a brilliant partnership with Araujo. They may have competition for his signature, though.

Barca have chosen not to renew Dani Alves' contract and need a right-back. Azpilicueta, now 32, would be a cheap and dependable replacement.

Frenkie de Jong has been linked with a massive money move to Manchester United this summer. in the event he does go, Bernardo Silva would be a brilliant replacement. Whether Man City let him leave, though, is another matter.

Kessie is available on a free transfer after his contract with AC Milan expired. He would be an incredible signing.

It's no secret that Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern Munich this summer, with Barcelona his preferred destination.

Barca offered €40m for his services earlier this week, per the Guardian, but it's believed they will need to pay more to convince Bayern to sell.

If Xavi gets his 'dream' XI, Barca will be a real force once again next season.
