Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst will pull off 'a good piece of business' if he welcomes West Bromwich Albion ace Cedric Kipre to Ibrox, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Van Bronckhorst, who is preparing for his first full campaign at the helm after being appointed as the Glasgow giants' boss last November, could use the transfer window to reshape the squad he inherited.

What's the latest news involving Kipre?

According to the Express & Star, West Brom central defender Kipre is being tracked by Rangers and French side Metz.

The report suggests the Gers have been keeping tabs on the one-cap Ivory Coast under-23 international since he was on Motherwell's books.

Kipre made 52 appearances for Rangers' Scottish Premiership rivals, scoring a solitary goal and racking up six assists despite solely featuring at the heart of the backline.

The Gers have potentially been boosted in their pursuit as the 25-year-old has reportedly been deemed surplus to requirements by West Brom chief Steve Bruce.

Kipre has not been afforded a single minute of action since Bruce moved into the Hawthorns dugout in February.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Kipre?

O'Rourke believes van Bronckhorst would be making a shrewd move if he chooses to head to the negotiating table for Kipre.

The journalist feels the Rangers boss is looking to bolster his centre-half options due to Leon Balogun's Ibrox contract expiring in a matter of days.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "He would be a player who could add depth to Rangers' squad and Kipre has had previous experience in Scotland thanks to his time at Motherwell.

"That would make it easier for him to settle into life back in Scotland if Rangers do move for him and I think he could be a good piece of business by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

"I think centre-back is an area of the team that they are looking to strengthen with Leon Balogun leaving on a free transfer."

Why is Kipre of interest to Rangers?

Kipre has racked up 152 appearances over the course of his senior club career, so there is no doubt that he would bring a wealth of experience to Rangers.

His spell at Motherwell also means he would not require any time to adjust to the Scottish Premiership, having featured in the competition on more than 30 occasions.

Kipre is reportedly available for as little as £1million and, with doubts over Calvin Bassey's future amid interest from the likes of Aston Villa, the Paris-born ace could be a sensible signing.
