Tottenham should still sign a left centre-back this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The position has emerged as a key area for Antonio Conte this window, although attentions have turned elsewhere for the north London outfit.

Prior to the market opening, The Athletic claimed that signing a left centre-back was a 'priority' for Tottenham.

Spurs' only recognised left-footed centre-back was Ben Davies and while he enjoyed an outstanding end to the campaign, Conte is desperate to have two players in each position ahead of next season.

The report states that Tottenham had drawn up a four-man shortlist, which were Josko Gvardiol, Alessandro Bastoni, Sven Botman and Nico Schlotterbeck.

But things have got complicated for the Italian, with Schlotterbeck joining Borussia Dortmund, while another of his targets, Sven Botman, has signed for Newcastle.

Bastoni recently emerged as Spurs' primary target, although his agent recently confirmed that the Italy international will be staying at San Siro following a meeting with the club's hierarchy.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old Gvardiol remains a player of interest, although RB Leipzig could demand around £80m for his services, which could prove too much of an ask for Daniel Levy and co.

Despite their recent setbacks, Bridge is still confident that Tottenham will fulfil the position in some capacity.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Firstly, I think Ben Davies had a great season and was Wales' best player in their recent win against Ukraine, and he immediately strengthens Tottenham's bench next season if Spurs do get that left centre-back.

"I do think they will get that left centre-back, I don't think there's any worry about that, it's which one they will get."

What business have Tottenham already completed?

A left centre-back might not yet have been signed up, but it hasn't stopped Spurs from completing some impressive business elsewhere.

Of the six positions that Conte wanted strengthening, they've already filled three of those, following a productive start to the window.

The first man to arrive was Ivan Perisic, who's set to provide competition for Ryan Sessegnon at left wing-back, while Fraser Forster has come in as a replacement for Pierluigi Gollini.

Tottenham's biggest summer capture was their most recent signing, though, when Yves Bissouma became Conte's third summer addition after joining in a £25m deal from Brighton & Hove Albion.
