The WWE Hall of Famer finally called time on his ring career last week, leaving a legacy as one of the greatest performers to ever grace a wrestling ring. During his run with WWE, the Olympic Gold medallist pretty much won it all – including six world championship reigns.
Angle also enjoyed some memorable rivalries, too. Most notably with the Undertaker, Shawn Michaels and the man he thinks is still one of the best around, Brock Lesnar.
The pair’s feud over the WWE championship in 2003 is one the highlights of Angle’s WWE career, and included the main event of WrestleMania 19, SummerSlam and an iconic sixty-minute Iron Man match on SmackDown.
Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, the 53-year-old stated that Lesnar is still one of the best worked in the business, twenty years after their legendary battles.
He’s one of the best workers in the business. Very light, he knows how to go. He knows psychology. The kid, he picked it up very quickly and he was really talented. Very mature for his age back then because he was only like 22 years old when he started in WWE. He always had it. He was a great talent. One of the best.
Last week Angle finally hung-up his boots, in a low-key announcement on the same podcast. Admitting that his knees were completely done and having undergone surgery to replace both knees, he is not going to even try to step back into a ring again.
There had been plans for Kurt to return to WWE TV earlier this year, working in a non-wrestling angle alongside RK-Bro and Alpha Academy, but the storyline was later scrapped.
