Colin Kaepernick's agent has responded to claims from former NFL player Warren Sapp over the player’s recent workout with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Having not played a snap in the NFL since he was with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016, the year he began protesting against social injustice in America, Colin Kaepernick looked as if he was in the process of coming back into the sport when he took part in a tryout with the Las Vegas Raiders back in May.

The 34-year-old took part in a series of drills with the team as he tries to make his way back into the league after years of failed attempts, as well as a lawsuit against the NFL in which he accused them of working together in order to keep him out of the league.

However, how well that tryout went appears to be causing some issues, and a back and forth has now developed involving former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp.

The back and forth begins

Taking to Twitter after the event, NFL reporter Ian Rapaport seemed to hint that Raiders personnel were ‘impressed’ with what he was able to bring to the table on his workout and that a path back to the NFL might have just opened up for him:

Recently though, Sapp has given his take on how well it went and seemed to have intel to suggest that things were a lot worse than what was initially being reported:

Kaepernick's agent Jeff Nalley has now offered his say into the conversation and it’s fair to say he is far from happy with what the Hall of Famer had to say.

What’s he said?

As per Pro Football Talk, Nalley responded not only to Sapp’s comments about Kaepernick’s performance, but also appeared to take issue with Sapp himself and that he didn’t understand why Sapp would be so negative on the matter:

“I guess Warren didn’t talk to the General Manager or the head coach.

“I spoke to the G.M. [Dave Zieger] several times and he said they all thought Kap was in great shape and threw the ball really well and encouraged any team to call him about the workout and he would tell them the same. I’m surprised Warren would say that, because it’s not true and you would think he would want Kap on a team.”

Without some form of footage from the event, it is hard to know which side to believe, although one hint might lie in the fact the Raiders haven’t signed him to any sort of deal, at least not yet.

Whether that opportunity comes up at any point in the future though is impossible to say as it would likely be dictated by injuries to their current crop of Derek Carr, Jarett Stidham, Nick Mullens and Chase Garbers.
