WWE has seen many iconic moments ever since it first started.

With such iconic moments, come huge Superstars. The WWE Universe has seen Donald Trump, Floyd Mayweather and even Mr T, but it’s tough to argue if any of them ever trumped the appearance, or should we say appearances, of boxing legend Mike Tyson. 

Way back in 1998, The Baddest Man on the Planet starred as the special guest referee at WrestleMania XIV for the match between Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

As Michaels attempted to hit his signature manoeuvre, the Sweet Chin Music, on Austin, he failed, with the Texas Rattlesnake catching his foot and then delivering a finisher of his own on The Heartbreak Kid. The Stone Cold Stunner was enough to secure the win as Iron Mike completed the count.

However, it was what happened next that saw Tyson take the headlines.

Iron Mike held up the famous “Austin 3:16” t-shirt, before going face-to-face with Stone Cold’s opponent Michaels.

And of course, the boxing legend wasn’t going to leave without giving the fans what they wanted. A right hand from Tyson 'knocked Michaels out cold', leaving him flat out on the canvas, leading to a roar from the crowd.

It was a roaring success for Mike Tyson in the squared circle, but it was also a roaring success for the company at the time when they perhaps needed it the most.

The pay-per-view itself reportedly brought in $11m to the company then known as WWF, at a time when the World Wrestling Federation was struggling in terms of ratings from the viewers.

Tyson’s appearance came just a year after he had been stripped of his boxing license after biting Evander Holyfield’s ear, which gave owner Vince McMahon the incentive to offer Tyson $3.5m to join his organisation.
