Manchester United have "no plans" to sell Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, according to Dean Jones.

There has been talk about the 37-year-old being offered to Chelsea, and while Jones says his agents have indeed been sounding out other clubs, the transfer insider has told GIVEMESPORT that United have no intention of letting him go this window.

What is the latest news involving Ronaldo?

The Athletic recently claimed that Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes had met with new Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and discussed the idea of the Portuguese forward potentially moving to Stamford Bridge.

Ronaldo only joined United last year and had a successful season after scoring 24 goals in 39 appearances.

However, collectively, it was a campaign for the Red Devils to forget after they failed to qualify for the Champions League, while Ronaldo now has just a year to run on his current deal - though there is an option to extend.

Considering the above, it is not a complete shock to hear talk about Ronaldo leaving Old Trafford this summer.

What has Jones said about Ronaldo and United?

Despite that talk, Jones cannot see Ronaldo leaving United for Chelsea and has told GMS that the Manchester club are not looking to sell their talisman.

The journalist said: "United have no plans at all to sell him. At the moment, he's the focal point of their team and they intend for that to remain the case. They hope the signing of [Frenkie] De Jong will happen soon so that he can see the intent early in pre-season.

"Of course, his agents are sounding out other clubs, we know that, and it is true his name cropped up with Chelsea - but there's no real movement with that. I can't see him actually joining Chelsea.

"I'm in LA at the moment and actually people here are starting to wonder if this is his next destination. There's a genuine buzz around it. They've got [Gareth] Bale, [Kylian] Mbappe was watching their match on Sunday, and they know there is intent to bring in more big names in the next year or two. So yeah, in LA they are half expecting that Ronaldo might end up in Hollywood soon."

Should United sell Ronaldo?

No, it would be madness. He is hands down their best player and proved as much last season with his 18 goals in 30 Premier League appearances.

He is not getting any younger, while there will be question marks about his suitability to Erik ten Hag's style, but as African football great Sunday Oliseh put it last year, Ronaldo is "phenomenal".

Ultimately, United need to do everything in their power to convince the £27m-rated Portugal international to stay at Old Trafford this summer.
