West Ham United are battling it out with 'one other club' as they aim to lure Jesse Lingard to the London Stadium, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Lingard spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan with the Hammers, scoring nine goals and registering a further five assists along the way, and boss David Moyes is vying to seal a reunion.

According to Sky Sports, the Hammers have already made an offer to the creative midfielder's representatives and it could offer him a route back into the England squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

The report suggests Moyes believes Lingard, who has represented his country on 32 occasions, would improve his squad ahead of a season which will see his charges combine their Premier League exploits with a Europa Conference League campaign.

But the 29-year-old is understood to be seeking a £150,000-per-week contract and lucrative signing-on fee, which has already put Newcastle United off making a move.

Lingard's imminent Manchester United exit comes after he was only handed 548 minutes of action throughout the entirety of last term.

What has Dean Jones said about Lingard?

Jones understands West Ham are not the only side looking to tempt Lingard, who has found the back of the net 56 times over the course of his senior club career, into signing on the dotted line.

However, at this stage, the transfer insider is unaware of who the Hammers' rivals in the two-horse race are.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I've heard it's out of West Ham and one other club now.

"I haven't figured out who that other club is and how it can be whittled down, but I'm told that it's out of West Ham and one other."
