Leeds United could make a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams this summer, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The 19-time USA international has previously worked under current Whites manager Jesse Marsch, and it is a move which Crook believes the club could be looking towards this summer.

What’s the latest news involving Adams?

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the club have been in talks to bring the 23-year-old to Elland Road ahead of the beginning of the Premier League campaign in August, with director of football Victor Orta identifying him as a target.

And with Kalvin Phillips’ future seemingly being at Manchester City rather than Leeds, Marsch will be looking for a midfielder to fill that void in the middle of the park.

With a £34.5m release clause in his contract, the holding midfielder, who joined Leipzig in 2019, might prove to be the man to make up for the England international’s departure from the club.

And Crook certainly believes that this is a possibility ahead of a potentially crucial summer transfer window for Leeds.

What did Crook say about Adams?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Yeah, the Tyler Adams one makes a lot of sense.

“Obviously, you know, we've seen already this window Jesse Marsch shopping in a market that he knows well, and you know, Tyler Adams is a player that he knows well.

“So, I think there's every chance that that could happen.”

Will Adams sign for Leeds?

Jesse Marsch has already dipped into the market for players he has already worked with, including the signing of Brenden Aaronson so there’s a good chance that this deal could get across the line should Phillips depart for the Etihad Stadium in the coming days.

Adams made 37 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig last season, providing a solitary assist but failing to find the back of the net according to Transfermarkt.

The USA international will greatly help the Whites in the defensive side of midfield, ranking in the top 2% of midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues for blocks per 90 minutes last season, according to FBref.

He also ranks in the top 19% of midfielders for pressures per 90 minutes according to the same stats provider, suggesting that his speciality will be marshalling and enforcing a well-drilled midfield unit.

Adams also possesses an average SofaScore rating of 6.68 for his performances in the Bundesliga last season, suggesting that he is a solid if unspectacular performer in midfield, and might just provide that rugged edge in midfield that Leeds would like.

Whilst in an ideal world Marsch would be able to keep hold of Phillips, his increasingly likely move to Manchester suggests that he may have to dip into the market for a player he’s previously worked under before, and Adams might just be that option.
