Brock Lesnar is one of the scariest wrestlers to ever step foot inside a WWE ring, there's no denying that.

Lesnar's status as one of the most intimidating men makes rumours that he was beat up in a backstage fight with Kurt Angle even more surprising.

The rumours have circulated for a while, with it being claimed that backstage at a WWE show in 2003, Angle and Lesnar had a legitimate grapple, which Kurt is said to have won pretty convincingly.

Now, speaking on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Angle has said that while the won, the fight was a lot more one sided that rumours have suggested:

I walked up behind Brock and tapped him on the shoulder. I said, ‘It’s time to go.’ We went and, you know what, the rumor is that I kicked his ass. Not true. It was a really close match. I took him down a couple of times. He didn’t take me down at all, but it was a pretty tight match. Who won? Kurt Angle!

Angle and Lesnar were pretty big rivals during Lesnar's initial run with WWE, with the pair sharing the ring for the main event of WrestleMania XIX back in 2003.

The match ended quite badly for Lesnar, with the former WWE Champion giving himself a pretty serious concussion after landing right on the top of his head with a rare Shooting Star Press.

They haven't worked together since Angle came back to WWE in 2017, and now that he's retired from wrestling, it's highly unlikely that we'll ever seen them work together again.

However, it's clear that when you think of Brock Lesnar's iconic rivalries, Kurt Angle's name will be pretty high up on that list.

Brock is still with WWE, and returned to TV earlier this month to extended his feud with long-time rival Roman Reigns.

Many fans thought their title match at WrestleMania 38 in April was going to end the feud, but Lesnar's attack Roman upon his return to keep that going.

WWE announced moments after Lesnar's comeback that he will challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal title at SummerSlam next month in a Last Man Standing match.
