UFC legend and former Lightweight division champion Khabib Nurmagomedov recently made a big prediction for the UFC 276 fight card that takes place on Saturday 2nd July 2022 from Las Vegas, Nevada.

The co-main event of the night will see Alexander Volkanovski face off with Max Holloway for the third time for the UFC Featherweight championship.

It’s a highly anticipated bout between two of the greatest fighters to ever step into the 145-pound division of the UFC, but how does the ‘Eagle’ see the fight going?

Khabib Nurmagomedov on Holloway vs Volkanovski

Alexander Volkanovski is gunning for a finish against Max Holloway

Speaking to the UFC, the former 155-pound champion Khabib would predict that Volkanovski will take the win on Saturday night for a variety of reasons.

He said (via MMAJunkie): “About Holloway-Volkanovski, I must say I’m really impressed with Volkanovski about his last couple of performances. I like Max Holloway. I like him. 

“This is nothing personal, but I think Volkanovski’s going to defend his title. It’s a question: how? Who knows. 

“But I see he (stays busier), fights all the time, experience – maybe experience. Like a little bit more fire. I feel he has a little bit more fire than Max Holloway.”

This third and potentially final match between the men is highly-anticipated amongst MMA fans, and it should be another firefight between the two 145-pound greats.

It’s arguable that Holloway actually won the second bout, with the split decision on the night being extremely controversial amongst fight fans.

This trilogy fight will hopefully put an end to all of the doubts, despite Volkanovski now being 2-0 against his Featherweight rival.

Combat sports fans on Twitter have been reacting to the comments from the former Lightweight champion, with many backing up what the ‘155-pound GOAT’ has said.

One fan tweeted: “Agree with the goat” whilst another claiming that “Khabib always predicts right.”

There are however a number of fans who want to see Holloway take the win and ascend to the top of the 145-pound mountain once again.

One fan would tweet: “Alex vs Max could go either way (like the last two fights) IMO” whilst another would claim that Holloway needs to stop the fight from going to the judges: “I’m rooting for Max and I think he already beat Volk but the judges f*cked it. The problem is Max [didn’t] finish the fight so I really hope he can finish him so we don't go to the judges again.”
