NFL stars Adrian Peterson and Le’Veon Bell will meet in an exhibition boxing match later this summer.

The era of celebrity boxing is well and truly upon us, as has been the case for the last couple of years now. Whether it be YouTubers, professional athletes or perhaps even former combat sports icons, many male and female names have put on a pair of gloves and settled their differences inside the squared circle.

Some feel as if it’s nothing more than a sideshow, whereas others believe this movement is helping the overall progress - and growth - of professional boxing.

Over the course of the next few months we’re going to see a handful of new events pop up all around the globe with one of the most notable taking place on July 30 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

In the main event of that card, which is being dubbed Social Gloves 2, Austin McBroom will meet AnEsonGib with the undercard also featuring rapper Blueface colliding with former NBA sensation Nick Young.

Now, as reported by ESPN, you can add another blockbuster fight to that list as Adrian Peterson prepares to go one on one with Le’Veon Bell.

The bout has been listed as a heavyweight match-up but as of this writing, no more details have been released.

A whole new world

In their own ways, Peterson and Bell have both enjoyed incredibly successful careers in the National Football League. Peterson is 37 with Bell being seven years his junior at 30, but they’re both currently listed as free agents.

Peterson has been selected for the Pro Bowl seven times, has led the league in rushing yards three times, and even captured the MVP award in 2012.

Bell has been selected for the Pro Bowl three times by comparison but given his age, and the fact that he caught a touchdown from Tom Brady as recently as this year, we’d say he still has some gas left in the tank.

In terms of who is going to be the favourite to pick up the win in this one, it really is anyone’s guess.
