West Ham United have been boosted in their hopes of luring Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma to the London Stadium as he in 'keen to come back' to the Premier League, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

The Hammers have already forked out close to £40million to secure the services of Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola since the transfer window reopened for business, but Danjuma has now worked his way onto boss David Moyes' radar.

What's the latest news involving Danjuma?

According to The Guardian, West Ham have upped the ante in their pursuit of Danjuma and have approached Villarreal.

However, the report suggests the Hammers are facing stiff competition for the six-cap Netherlands international as he has attracted a number of admirers.

Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti has revealed West Ham have held talks with Villarreal, who could listen to offers in excess of £39million as they need to cash-in ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.

That would fall short of the £65million release clause which was written into Danjuma's contract and could be activated this summer.

The PSV Eindhoven academy product would comfortably become the most expensive signing in West Ham's entire history if they end up meeting that figure.

What has Alex Crook said about Danjuma?

Crook believes a move to West Ham is on the cards as Danjuma is eager to seal his return to the Premier League.

The talkSPORT reporter reckons the 25-year-old feels he has unfinished business after only making 14 top flight appearances during his time with Bournemouth.

Crook told GIVEMESPORT: "Danjuma is a really interesting character because he's got the talent, but sometimes his temperament has been called into question.

"I think he feels he's got a point to prove in the Premier League because he missed most of the one season he had there with Bournemouth due to injury. I think if he was fit, maybe they wouldn't have got relegated.

"I think he's keen to come back and West Ham is a very possible destination for him."

Why is Danjuma on West Ham's radar?

West Ham may have secured Europa Conference League qualification thanks to finishing seventh in the Premier League last season, but they were the second-lowest scorers in the top eight.

With that in mind, Moyes certainly needs to find a way of injecting more firepower into his side and Danjuma could be the answer after finding the back of the net 16 times and laying on a further four assists during the 2021/22 campaign.

He showed his versatility by featuring on the wing and as a striker last term and, with Michail Antonio still being the Hammers' only senior frontman, that will be music to Moyes' ears.
