British GP: Sebastian Vettel praises British crowd ahead of Silverstone

Sebastian Vettel has said that he is always ‘struck’ by the support of the British fans when it comes to racing at Silverstone.

The German may not have his own home Grand Prix this year in Germany but he can perhaps consider this one as close as he can get, with Aston Martin’s factory based in Silverstone and plenty of British supporters big fans of the four-time world champion.

Indeed, it’s clear he is a driver that loves the challenge that Silverstone throws up and, indeed, he is also appreciative of the support that the British crowd always generates.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, he said:

“I have enjoyed many race weekends at Silverstone, and I am always struck by the enthusiasm and appreciation that the British crowd shows to the teams and drivers. It is such a fantastic event.

“The mix of corners should give us a better understanding of some of the key performance characteristics of these 2022 cars and should also help us to further improve and refine our understanding of the AMR22. The Silverstone weekend is always pretty intense, but I hope we can have some fun and score some solid points in front of our home crowd.”

Aston Martin will be going in search of points this weekend with Lance Stroll able to pick one up last time out in Montreal.

Seb was quick for much of the weekend in Canada before a tough qualifying, too, and so it seems as though the Aston is making decent enough progress with its performance.
