With Kalvin Phillips on his way to Manchester City in a £45million deal, Whites head coach Jesse Marsch appears to have identified Adams as an ideal replacement.
What’s the latest news involving Adams?
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds director of football Victor Orta has opened talks with a trio of defensive midfielders ahead of potentially making a move.
The report suggests Adams, a 30-cap United States international, is high on the list of targets having worked under Marsch at New York Red Bulls and Leipzig.
German media outlet Bild have revealed a deal which would see Adams reunited with his fellow countryman could happen ‘very quickly’.

What has Dean Jones said about Adams?
Jones understands Leeds are admirers of Adams and hoping to seal his arrival as Phillips nears his exit for Manchester City.
The transfer insider believes the Whites have been boosted in their pursuit as Leipzig are open to offloading the American.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “They really like Tyler Adams and are certainly open to getting that transfer through the door.
“Leipzig are, from what I’m told, more open to it than you might imagine. Obviously, they might lose Konrad Laimer, so you would think they’re not going to lose another, but apparently they would be open to it at the right price, so there’s some hope there for Leeds.”
How does Adams compare to Phillips?
Phillips has made 234 senior appearances since coming through the Leeds ranks and it will be difficult for any player to truly replace him at Elland Road thanks to the bond he shares with the supporters.
But, according to FBref, Adams averaged more assists, touches and a better pass completion rate per 90 minutes than Phillips last season.
While Phillips is in the process of completing a £45million move, Adams is valued at just £26million by the CIES Football Observatory and may be a shrewd, cut-price replacement for the Yorkshire giants ahead of the upcoming campaign.
