Gabriel Jesus will end an impressive five-year stay with Manchester City when his transfer to Arsenal is confirmed. The Brazilian has all but completed a move to the Emirates in a deal worth £45 million, reuniting with Mikel Arteta, who worked with Jesus while coaching under Pep Guardiola at City.An announcement to make the move official is expected imminently, with Fabrizio Romano giving the transfer his signature 'here we go' confirmation already. It's a huge coup for the Gunners who are looking to add firepower to a squad that finished fifth in 2021/22, narrowly falling away from an unlikely battle for a Champions League finish.Jesus is a proven goal getter with a wealth of experience in a top side, bringing four Premier League wins with him down to north London as he looks to establish himself as the club's undisputed number one striker.Plenty were critical of the 25-year-old's inability to transform into a first XI regular at City, but it's easy to forget just how good Jesus can be when given a run of games. It's also easy to forget where he came from, immediately taking to the league exceptionally well following his 2017 arrival from Brazilian outfit Palmeiras.

What has turned that unrelenting technical ability and eye for goal at the very top level into a consistent nightmare for defenders, though, is Jesus' humble beginnings, and an unbreakable mentality as he represents his hometown of Jardim Peri, Sao Paulo, on the big stage.

Jesus is absolutely adored back home where he is from. We've all seen the pictures of him in his youth, cleaning the streets ahead of the 2014 World Cup, so to see Arsenal now harbouring their hopes of returning to the top on him is incredible.

His hometown share that love for him, which is made clear in a video that has blown up online.

Shared by @AFCStuff on Twitter, the minute-long video is taken from Amazon Prime's 'All or Nothing: Brazil National Team' docuseries from 2020, where residents from Jesus' hometown detail exactly how much he means to them. You can watch the clip below.

It's seriously heart-warming stuff. You can see how genuine the different residents of Jardim Peri are when discussing just how important Jesus is to the neighbourhood and what he means to everyone.

Not only does he inspire local children - who are growing up playing football in the same streets he did - to chase their dreams, but his influence is also clear to see on the adults interviewed.

Described as a 'miracle', Jesus is the beacon of hope, hard work and dreaming big for a neighbourhood that has never had an idol to look up to previously, with people fighting tirelessly to achieve their dreams. To see how much it empowers them, watching their boy go from strength to strength, is so pure.

We can only imagine the buzz that will go around Jardim Peri when photos emerge of him holding up that Arsenal shirt for the very first time, as he leads the line for one of the biggest clubs in football.
