What’s the latest on Bernabei

Celtic have now officially announced the signing of Bernabei, who arrives in Scotland for a reported £3.75m, after a successful spell in the Lanus academy and later the first-team.

The Argentine full-back has made 87 first-team appearances since 2019 during his time at Lanus, scoring five goals and providing ten assists, according to Transfermarkt.

And speaking to Celtic TV he said: “I'm very happy to be here and I feel grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity.

“I feel proud to be playing in Europe because it was one of my dreams and I'm excited to train with and play with my new team-mates.

“The stadium is just incredible. The people, the club, team-mates, and the coaching staff are all incredible.

"I’m very excited and happy and I can’t wait to be playing in the Champions League. I've heard that the people are crazy, so I can't wait to sense that feeling and emotion in Celtic Park.”

And O’Rourke believes Celtic fans should be excited about Bernabei’s arrival.

What has O’Rourke said about Bernabei?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Bernabei does look like he’s got real talent and I'm sure Celtic are busy planning ahead for the Champions League.

“They'll be delighted and we can see what he can bring to the team going forward.”

What next for Celtic?

Bernabei is the fourth permanent addition to the Celtic squad this season, according to Transfermarkt, and you would imagine they don’t want their business to end there, as they look to retain their Scottish Premiership title next season.

The signing of the 21-year-old will delight fans of the Glasgow giants, with a SofaScore rating of 7.57 for the left-back’s performances in the Copa Sudamericana this season suggesting that he will make that position his own in the Premiership ahead of the upcoming Premiership and Champions League campaign.

According to Football Scotland, last season’s Benfica loanee in Jota is currently in Glasgow to negotiate a permanent move to Celtic Park for around £6.5m this season, which will be a major boost to fans of last season’s title-winners.

With Jota potentially being the fifth arrival already this summer, Ange Postecoglou’s side look set to be in a strong position to retain their title this season, despite competition from Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers side.
