Manchester United are heavily linked with Dutch full-back Tyrell Malacia, but who is he? Here we have everything you need to know about the young defender.

The Red Devils have been mightily quiet so far in the transfer market. They've been linked to just about every single available player under the sun, but none of these deals have come to fruition. The key name that United have been tied to so far this summer is FC Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, with the midfielder heavily reported to a move to Old Trafford, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Now a new Dutch name has emerged as a potential transfer to the red side of Manchester, with Feyenoord full-back Tyrell Malacia the latest player to be rumoured to be joining. It was apparent that Lyon had a verbal agreement in place with the young Dutchman, but United have now hijacked the deal in an attempt to acquire his services.

Tyrell Malacia was born and raised in Rotterdam, which has been his beloved home ever since. He was always gifted in terms of footballing ability, so much so that he was snapped up by Feyenoord academy at the young age of nine.

He had undeniable talent in his youth, he represented the Netherlands from an Under-16 level to the Under-21. He has now since progressed to feature five times for the Oranje, with him also looking ever likely to feature in Louis van Gaal's 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

He's adapted well to the Netherland's five at the back wing-back role, which could give Erik ten Hag something to think about when implementing a new style of play at Old Trafford.

Malacia goes by the nickname 'the pitbull', which is a perfect way to describe how the full-back plays.

He plays with his heart on his sleeve with sheer speed and tenacity on the left flank, hunting down opponents when they're travelling on his wing - something that United have been missing out on in the past couple of seasons.

His attacking qualities also shine through for club and country, he certainly likes to explore up the pitch in the hopes of making something happen. The modern-day game craves a full-back that has both attacking and defensive qualities, which Malacia appears to have in abundance - so he could be a real game-changer for United's side.

According to reports - United have got a deal in place for £15.7 million for Tyrell Malacia.

This was a man that Erik ten Hag wanted at Ajax last season, so this looks like an absolute bargain for the Red Devils.

It's unbeknown whether this deal will go through, but it seems that the Dutchman could be a good fit for the new era at Manchester United.
