Haas driver Kevin Magnussen is looking forward to trying out the new-era Formula 1 cars at Silverstone given the high-speed nature of the circuit.

The British Grand Prix takes place this weekend and it's one of the fastest circuits on the calendar, with the likes of Copse, Maggotts, Becketts and Stowe all taken at very high-speed.

Indeed, it looks an absolute thrill to drive in a Formula 1 car, and this year we see the new-era machines take to the track for the first time.

That in mind, Magnussen said that it will feel slightly different due to the heavier nature of the cars, but no-less fun when going through the high-speed sections.

Asked by Give Me Sport's George Dagless about what he expected from the circuit in the new cars, Magnussen said:

"They're heavier so in high-speed corners you're going to really feel the weight but they still have a tonne of downforce so they're still gonna be super quick and very, very fun.

"Through Maggotts and Becketts is great fun, they're very stiff so you can't take the same amount of curb so that's going to be different but it's still going to be great."

There are fewer more exciting sights than seeing an F1 car attacking some of the corners at Silverstone and the challenge of getting the sequence right brings out the very best in the drivers.

Clearly, Magnussen is looking forward to the challenge and probably more than most having missed out on it last year when he wasn't on the grid.
