As the old saying goes ‘defences win championships, but at the same time there have been some pretty amazing offences that have helped their team win Super Bowl title’s too.

Whether it be the St Louis Rams and the ‘Greatest Show On Turf’, the San Diego Chargers with the ‘Air Coryell’ offence or the Kansas City Chiefs and the ‘Legion Of Zoom’, there have always been teams that have lit up the league with how well they get the ball down the field.

And following on from this week’s NFL defence ranking list, it only seems fair that we look at what is going on with the other side of the ball for teams around the National Football League.

Whilst there might not be the same high-level of performances, or cool nicknames, of those that have gone before them, there are still a lot of teams in the NFL that look set to gran a lot of headlines, and a lot of points in the 2022 season.

But just where do the teams rank in terms of their overall ability?

Using Tiermaker.com, we have ranked the 32 teams into five different categories based on what we think they’re going to do this season:

Lights Out:

Could win games without the defence’s help

Will Put Up Points:

Pretty powerful, but not quite at the standard of those above

Stuck In The Middle:

Not explosive, but not pedestrian either

Likely To Struggle:

Needs a lot of work before they can be seen as a threat

Potential Disaster:

Could be playing their way to the #1 pick if they aren’t careful

One note, for the purpose of this we are going on the basis that, given reports that have emerged, the Cleveland Browns will be without quarterback Deshaun Watson for the majority, if not all of the season.

With that clarified, here is where we think each team ranks across the various categories:

Lights Out: Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills

Will Put Up Points: Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots

Stuck In The Middle: Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles

Likely To Struggle: Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers

Potential Disaster: New York Jets, Houston Texans, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks
