A record number of British players reached the second round of Wimbledon this year, but how many have made it through to round three? 

Nine Brits won their opening matches, however, only four now remain across the men’s and women’s singles draw. 

US Open champion Emma Raducanu lost in straight sets to Caroline Garcia, while two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray was defeated by a resurgent John Isner. 

Jack Draper, Alastair Gray and Harriet Dart were beaten as well, though all three fought admirably. 

Nonetheless, there was still plenty to celebrate for British fans. Here’s a look at the players still in the hunt for some silverware: 

Cameron Norrie

Norrie is the highest ranked male British player in the world and is seeded ninth for the competition. 

After breezing through his first round match against Pablo Andjuar, he came through a five-set thriller against Spain’s Jaume Munar. 

In round three, the 26-year-old faces US star Steve Johnson, who beat Norrie’s compatriot Ryan Peniston in the second round. 

Norrie’s draw has opened up nicely and the Brit will feel he has a realistic chance of reaching the semi-finals this year. 

Heather Watson 

Watson has endured a difficult few years but is now playing some of her best tennis in a long time. 

The former British number one beat the controversial Tamara Korpatsch in round one and followed this by defeating China’s Wang Qiang in straight sets. 

Watson has now matched her best ever performance at Wimbledon, which came back in 2015. 

That year, the Brit faced Serena Williams and served for the match, before succumbing to the eventual champion in three sets. 

Katie Boulter

Boulter came agonisingly close to upsetting Aryna Sabalenka on her centre court debut last year and went one step better this year against Karolina Pliskova. 

The 25-year-old came from a set down to defeat the 2021 runner-up and set up a clash with Harmony Tan. 

Boulter dedicated her victory over Pliskova to her gran, Jil, who died three days ago. 

"I'm going to get so emotional. I'd like to dedicate it to her,” she said.

Liam Broady 

Broady had never made it to the second round of a Slam before this year’s Wimbledon and now he’s reached round three. 

The 28-year-old has come through two five set matches so far –– the latest of which came against 12th seed Diego Shwartzman. 

Next up for Broady is Australia’s De Minaur, who defeated Draper in round two.
