Wimbledon: Fans fume over ‘ill’ chicken and chips selling for hefty price

Wimbledon Food Slammed

Wimbledon is well underway, with fans taking to the stands to cheer on their favourite tennis stars battling it out for what is arguably the most sought after Grand Slam.

The championship has already been filled with iconic and unforgettable moments and we’re still less than a week in, it has all the makings of yet another classic year.

We’ve seen the likes of Nick Kyrgios just do Nick Kyrgios things and Katie Boulter has made the third round for the first time in her home Grand Slam.

Unfortunately, from the British point of view, Andy Murray crashed out 3-1 in sets to serving master John Isner after Emma Raducanu’s loss to Caroline Garcia in straight sets.

Murray won’t be making it a hattrick of Wimbledon crowns nor will Raducanu add to her remarkable US Open triumph after both lost in the second round.

It’s the first time Murray has lost in the second round at Wimbledon, holding a 13-0 record before taking to Centre Court earlier this week.

However, there’s been further horror for the spectators in London, it’s a given that food at events will always be more expensive and pre-cooked to limit queues, but food at Wimbledon has left fans mortified.

A picture has emerged of a three piece chicken which looks to be one thigh, wing and nugget, with chips and coleslaw and a helping of BBQ sauce.

That portion sets spectators back £11 and as you can see, it doesn’t look too impressive! A picture of the food has been doing the rounds on Twitter, with plenty of disgruntled responses in the replies to the original tweet.

The chicken is deemed that bad, even KFC got in on the action slating the food at Wimbledon, you know it’s bad if the Colonel is offended!

KFC’s reply was a simplistic: “Well that’s ruined my day.”

Whilst other horrified people added: “Hand me that for 11 scoops I’m getting a charge sheet.”

“That is the saddest chicken I’ve seen in a while.”

“Where actually is the chicken?”

“Looks like it come off a canary.”

“Chicken was ill or something?”

It’s safe to say people are far from impressed with the chicken on offer at Wimbledon, if you want our advice, we’d suggest playing it safe by taking a packed lunch, or just have some food before heading off to the courts.

I think we’ll stick to the famous strawberries and cream on offer please!
