In a packed weekend of summer sport, we have the crown jewel of the British motor-racing calendar, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. With Mercedes still struggling for consistent performance so far this season, a British win for Lewis Hamilton or George Russell may be out of the question, though they have shown decent signs so far this weekend.Max Verstappen tops the standings with a healthy lead of nearly 50 points over his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, having won six of the opening nine races. Mechanical issues have robbed him of some other high-scoring positions but as we approach the halfway point, he will be very satisfied with the current state of affairs.Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari sits third just three points behind Perez, with some rotten misfortune of late the main cause of that.Whilst Mercedes haven’t been at the level they would want, there are signs that they are on the way back. Hamilton was pleased with the improvements he was seeing at his home Grand Prix as he was second fastest in Friday practice.

That combined with Hamilton making the podium last time out in Canada, his first podium since the opening race of the season, means there are green shoots of hope for Lewis fans.

The British Grand Prix is a serious business, but sometimes life can be a little too serious and we need some light relief.

It was good to see the British public poking fun at Miami and their fake marina in this video.

Showing the luxurious surroundings of the Silverstone Marina and the ‘Pissed as a Newt’ looked resplendent in the overcast British summer.

This was a nod to the fake marina that Miami created in a car park adjacent to the racetrack, in an effort to bring some Monaco glamour to proceedings.

Silverstone may lack a marina, but it is a circuit with a rich history, that draws huge crowds across the weekend. They will be hoping for some action-packed racing, and they shouldn’t be disappointed.
