Edoardo Mortara thanked his team for helping him convert a sluggish start to the weekend into race victory at the Morocco E-Prix in Marrakesh on Saturday afternoon.

Mortara now sits top of the championship standings on the back of this victory in the North African country, but he said after securing the win that he was far from confident about getting anywhere near such a result after the initial practice sessions.

Speaking post-race to the press, Mortara credited his team for how well they turned the car's performance around between practice and qualifying, before then kicking on further to seal victory come the chequered flag:

“I must admit after Free Practice 2, we had a lot of issues and I was not thinking we could turn this
thing around.

“But, I have an incredible team behind me and they managed to do an incredible job already in quali. Then during the race, they had a plan, they had a strategy, we executed it and it was perfect.

“You have the guys putting you under a lot of pressure. I was trying to be intelligent, trying to
manage. There was a lot to manage today - tyres obviously, but also battery temperatures, energy. It
was very difficult, I had some issues with the car today, I was a little bit by myself let’s say, but we
did that and I’m extremely happy.”

As mentioned, the victory now puts Mortara on top of the standings, with this his third win of the current Formula E season.

He's one of the form men, too, with four podiums in his past four races and now at the top of the tree he'll be eager to keep his foot down and try and seal the championship with three double-headers left, with New York up next on 16th and 17th July.
