Alpine driver Esteban Ocon has revealed how a battery issue prevented him from going any quicker in qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

The Frenchman will line up in 15th for this afternoon's race at Silverstone, but will feel as though he could have been far higher up on the grid had he not had problems with his A522.

Indeed, his team-mate, Fernando Alonso, is up in 7th which shows the potential of the car this weekend and Ocon revealed that a battery problem was the cause for his Q2 elimination.

Speaking to the press here at Silverstone after the session, the Frenchman explained:

"We had a battery-related issue, unfortunately.

"We missed quite a lot of power. I was down at 0% energy but I trust the guys to find the issue and get it fixed.

"We've started from further back and gotten into the points before and hopefully we can do that again."

Providing Ocon's team can sort the issue for this afternoon's race, there is no reason why we won't see him charging through the field.

The Alpine is a quick car and certainly faster than most of those around it, with it also possessing very good speed in a straight line.

Indeed, Ocon will feel as though points are more than gettable this afternoon, but he'll obviously need to keep it clean in the early stages and then plot his way through - whilst also hoping there'll be no further issues with the car.

The British Grand Prix kicks off at 3pm this afternoon.
