Julija Stoliarenko opened UFC 276 in Las Vegas with a gruesome submission of Jessica-Rose Clark.The 29-year-old earned her first UFC victory after snapping Clark’s arm just 42 seconds into the women’s bantamweight bout. Stoliarenko was quick to wrestle her opponent onto her back, before locking in a tight armbar. Clark struggled to get out of the situation, eventually conceding and frantically tapping out as her arm was dislocated. It was the second-fastest submission in bantamweight history, behind only Ronda Rousey’s 14-second win over Cat Zingano in 2015.Stoliarenko, who avoided a fifth consecutive defeat in the Octagon, earned the Performance of the Night bonus for her efforts.

The Lithuanian has been professional since 2012,  winning the Invicta Bantamweight Championship in 2020. 

Clark, who has recently recovered from an ACL injury, has now lost two straight fights, both by first-round armbar. She was defeated by the same manoeuvre by Stephanie Egger in February. 

Elsewhere at UFC 276, Israel Adesanya continued his reign as UFC middleweight champion with a routine victory over Jared Cannonier.

Alexander Volkanovski successfully defended his featherweight title against Max Holloway in one of the most anticipated trilogy fights in MMA history, while Alex Pereira delivered an incredible first-round knockout against Sean Strickland.

Fans will now eagerly await UFC 277 and a highly-anticipated rematch between Julianna Peña and Amanda Nunes. 

An intense rivalry between the pair was sparked at UFC 269 when Peña stunned Nunes to take the women’s bantamweight title in December.

The two competitors have recently been working together as coaches in a new season of The Ultimate Fighter, but will come up against each other in the Octagon on July 30th.
