Chelsea will look to wrap up a deal for Manchester City star Raheem Sterling this week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 27-year-old is believed to be a key target for Thomas Tuchel, and it looks like the German is close to getting his man.

What is the latest news involving Sterling?

The Daily Mail recently reported that Chelsea are close to reaching an agreement with City for Sterling.

The Blues are expected to pay around £45m for the England international's services.

Sterling has been such a key player for City since joining from rivals Liverpool back in 2015, with Citizens chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak hailing him as a "leader". In total, he has scored 131 goals in 337 appearances for the club, showing the sort of firepower he brings to Pep Guardiola's team.

However, Sterling has just one year remaining on his contract at the Etihad, explaining why the Premier League champions are open to a sale.

What has Romano said about Sterling to Chelsea?

Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that Sterling's move to Chelsea is getting closer.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer guru said: "Raheem Sterling is getting closer. They're negotiating with Man City and, during this week, they will have new contacts with Man City to make sure that they can find the agreement on the final details, on the fee, on the personal terms and then sign Raheem Sterling."

Who could Chelsea sign after Sterling?

Should Chelsea land Sterling, which now looks very likely to happen, the Blues will put everything into finalising deals for a couple of central defenders.

Following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, the west London club have entered talks to sign Sterling's City team-mate Nathan Ake and Juventus' Matthijs de Ligt.

Romano recently shared on Twitter that Chelsea and City have held positive discussions over Ake, while Matt Law of The Telegraph reported last week that negotiations for De Ligt were progressing.

If they can get deals for all three of those players wrapped up, that would be some impressive business done by the club's new regime.

One footballer who does not look like he will be moving to Stamford Bridge this summer, though, is Raphinha.

Despite the former European champions agreeing a £55m fee with Leeds United for the Brazilian, it seems unlikely that he will be playing under Tuchel in the new season as he holds out for a switch to Barcelona.
