Leeds have now 'identified key targets' after Phillips' Elland Road exit

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch applauds the fans

Leeds United are ‘looking to move quickly’ as they bid to welcome reinforcements to Elland Road following Kalvin Phillips’ exit for Manchester City, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

Phillips has joined the reigning Premier League champions in a deal worth up to £50million, but head coach Jesse Marsch has already identified fresh faces he wants to lure to Yorkshire.

Who are Leeds looking to sign?

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Leeds are closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig defensive midfielder Tyler Adams.

It is understood that a fee of £20million, including add-ons, has been agreed and the 30-cap United States international will pen a long-term deal after undergoing a medical.

Leeds have also been in direct contact with the representatives of 22-year-old Red Bull Salzburg ace Mohamed Camara, which led to him being excused from his current employers’ pre-season training camp.

Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, via the Yorkshire Evening Post, have revealed that the Whites and AC Milan have made enquiries for Sassuolo’s Ivory Coast midfielder Hamed Traore.

Further up the pitch, Club Brugge forward Charles de Ketelaere is another star being pursued by Leeds as the start of the new season edges closer.

What has Tim Thornton said about the situation?

Thornton understands Leeds have pieced together a shortlist of targets and decided who they will prioritise.

The Sky Sports reporter believes Marsch is keen to complete signings as soon as possible after seeing Phillips depart.

Thornton told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s a case of them having a shortlist and they’ll have a number of players in mind. It depends on whether they can get their first target, second target or whatever.

“But I know that they have identified the players they want and I know that they’re looking to move quickly to get deals done.”

Who have Leeds signed so far?

Marsch was appointed as Leeds’ head coach in February and, ahead of his first full campaign at the helm, he has wasted no time in bolstering his options.

The Whites’ summer spending got underway with the acquisition of creative midfielder Brenden Aaronson, who has joined in a £24.7million deal from Red Bull Salzburg.

When was Elland Road first built?

Leeds then returned to the Austrian side to sign right-back Rasmus Kristensen, despite additional interest from Borussia Dortmund and Brentford, for £10million.

A similar fee was enough to tempt Bayern Munich into sanctioning Marc Roca’s switch to Elland Road last month.
