Tottenham Hotspur are behind Inter Milan in the race for Gleison Bremer’s signature, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Bremer is set to depart Torino this summer following another outstanding campaign and has attracted the attention of a host of top clubs from across the continent.

What is the latest news involving Bremer?

The talented 25-year-old has previously admitted that his future lies away from the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino as he’s ready to take the next step in his career.

“I told the coach and the management (last summer): ‘I want to change now.’ So, they told me: ‘Stay this year, help us. Next year, you can take the next step,’” Bremer said in an interview with ESPN.

FootballTransfers claimed last month that Inter were ‘closing in’ on the signing of the Brazilian despite interest from Spurs, AC Milan and Juventus, with Tuttosport suggesting a £35 million move is in the offing.

And Football.London’s Alasdair Gold also stated that the capital club were eager to snap up Bremer, before asserting that he is believed to be available for as little as £21m, as Antonio Conte wants to add two centre-backs to his ranks.

What has Romano said about Tottenham?

Conte is eager to add a left-footed central defender to his ranks ahead of next season, and Tottenham have opened talks with Barcelona over Clement Lenglet as a result.

Yet Romano has revealed to GiveMeSport that his ‘feeling’ is that Inter are the ‘frontrunners’ for Bremer, meaning Spurs may be forced to move on to alternative targets.

He told GMS: “Bremer, my feeling is still for Inter to be frontrunners. They have an agreement with the player since January, so they're waiting to complete this negotiation with Torino.

“And so, it's not easy to find a top centre-back, this is why I think Lenglet could be a very smart solution.”

Who else could Tottenham sign?

Ironically, Inter’s own Alessandro Bastoni appeared to be at the top of Conte’s wish list after the pair worked together at San Siro, claiming the Serie A title in 2020/21.

However, the 23-year-old looks set to stay put after his agent proclaimed that his client will ‘certainly remain’ with the Nerazzurri for the foreseeable future.

RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol was also outlined as a player on Tottenham’s radar alongside the “incredible” Bremer and Bastoni, yet he also seems to be out of their reach.

German football expert Stefan Bienkowski has reported that Leipzig has informed both Spurs and Chelsea that the Croatia international is not for sale.

Therefore, it looks like Conte will have to settle for signing Lenglet on loan this summer before revisiting his preferred targets in 12 months’ time.
