Arsenal are 'still in contact' with Youri Tielemans' agent despite the Emirates Stadium outfit failing to head to Leicester City with an official bid, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have not been afraid to splash the cash this summer, with close to £90million being spent on the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira, but a move for Tielemans could still be on the cards.

What's the latest news involving Tielemans?

Arsenal appear to have already done plenty of groundwork when it comes to attempting to sign Tielemans as CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has previously told GIVEMESPORT that the central midfielder has agreed personal terms with the north Londoners.

Tielemans has been a long-term target for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed internal discussions have been held since January.

Leicester have slapped a £25million price tag on the 25-year-old as they are keen to cash-in before the summer window slams shut on September 1.

The Foxes are willing to part with Tielemans for a cut-price fee as he has entered the final 12 months of his £120,000-per-week contract and been unwilling to pen fresh terms.

However, Arsenal have yet to make a bid and that has resulted in Premier League rivals Manchester United being put on red alert.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Tielemans?

Romano understands that Arsenal have remained in constant communication with Tielemans' representatives.

The transfer guru believes the Gunners are deliberating over whether to head to Leicester with a big-money offer.

However, he is also aware that Arsenal have yet to test the waters since the summer window opened for business.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: "Arsenal are still in contact with his agent. Arsenal are still exploring this possibility for Youri Tielemans, but there has still not been an official bid to Leicester."

Why is Tielemans on Arteta's list of targets?

Tielemans has made 120 appearances in the Premier League and that will be an attraction for Arteta as it means he will not need to be given time to adjust to the rigours of the English top flight.

Arteta is hoping to bring silverware back to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming campaign and the 52-cap Belgium international is used to getting his hands on trophies, having won competitions in his homeland and during his time with Leicester.

Tielemans has been described by Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers as ‘one of Europe’s top midfielders’ and, with that being the case, he would certainly be an asset to Arsenal.
