Everton could be forced into selling Yerry Mina as his Goodison Park contract situation 'is a problem', according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees have already recouped £60million after selling Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur last week, but Mina could also be offloaded before the transfer deadline passes on September 1.

What's the latest news involving Mina?

Mina has been on Everton's books since joining in a deal worth up to £28.5million from Barcelona close to four years ago.

But there is uncertainty over the central defender's future after entering the final 12 months of his £120,000-per-week contract.

According to Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Everton have officially put Mina on the market and are hopeful of finding a buyer.

The report suggests the Toffees have placed a £13million price tag on the 39-cap Colombia international but are expecting to lower their expectations because of his contract situation.

Mario Mauri, Mina's former agent, has told Italian news website L’Interista - via TEAMtalk - that the Everton man would be open to a switch to Serie A.

What has Paul Brown said about Mina?

Brown believes it would make financial sense for Everton to cash-in on Mina before the summer transfer window slams shut.

The journalist feels Toffees boss Frank Lampard would be happy to keep the 27-year-old at the club, but having such little time remaining on his contract could force his hand.

When asked whether a move away from Goodison Park could be on the cards, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: "Yes, absolutely. Yerry Mina is someone who doesn't have very long on his contract.

"He has suffered with injuries and been in and out of the side. I think he is clearly a player that Lampard would let go.

"Lampard seems to quite like Yerry Mina, but his contract situation is a problem. He's not getting any younger and I think, from a financial point of view, it would make sense to sell him now."

Should Everton cash-in on Mina?

Mina has made 91 appearances since heading to Everton, but he may find his opportunities limited next season.

That is because Lampard has already bolstered his backline with the addition of James Tarkowski following the expiry of his contract at Burnley.

Mina missed 25 games through injury last term, while he has also been on the treatment table on various other occasions during his time at Goodison Park, so it might be the right time to cut ties.
