Everton are acting "cautiously" in the transfer window, according to insider Dean Jones.

Frank Lampard recently secured his first summer signing when James Tarkowski arrived on a free transfer following his contract expiring at Burnley, but the Toffees are yet to spend a penny.

What's the latest news involving Everton?

It's been a quiet start to the window for Lampard's side, although his plans might start to take shape following the departure of Richarlison.

Having made his feelings clear about wanting to leave Goodison Park earlier this summer, the Brazil international got his wish when he joined Tottenham in a £60m deal last week.

But Richarlison was Everton's top goalscorer last season, meaning Lampard will need to find a replacement to ensure his side don't get dragged into a relegation battle once again.

However, back in March the Toffees announced losses of more than £100m for a third year on the bounce, highlighting why they spent less than £2m in the window 12 months ago and more of the same can be expected this time around.

What did Jones say about Everton?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think they're being cautious over what they want from the project they're going to build, and I think all the time your biggest players are being linked with a transfer, it's going to affect how you go into the market before those moments happen."

Who have Everton been linked with?

With the Richarlison money now available, there's clearly funds there for Lampard to spend.

But Everton have shown little signs that they're going to splash the cash and make some big-money signings like in previous seasons.

According to the Daily Mail, they have joined the race to sign free agent Jesse Lingard, with initial talks already taking place, although the Toffees face competition from West Ham, while Tottenham are also in the running for his signature.

Everton have also been linked with a move for England midfielder Harry Winks, but i believe the Merseysiders have cooled their interest in the Spurs ace, with Lampard set to move onto other targets.

Meanwhile, Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis is on the club's list as a potential Richarlison replacement. According to the Evening Standard, the Championship outfit are set to entertain offers of around £20m for the Nigeria international, who scored 10 goals in his debut Premier League season.
