What’s the latest on Ronaldo?

According to multiple sources, Ronaldo has informed United of his desire to leave the club this summer, as he wants to see more ambition from the Manchester club.

It is not thought that the 189-time Portugal international has any agreement in place with another club, but it is still believed that he sees his future away from Old Trafford.

According to David Ornstein, Chelsea are considering a move for Ronaldo with new owner Todd Boehly intrigued by the idea of bringing the striker to Stamford Bridge.

And Romano believes that Mendes will attempt to strike a deal with Chelsea, as well as other clubs from around Europe.

What has Romano said about Ronaldo?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m sure that Jorge Mendes will try with Chelsea and with other clubs around Europe like Bayern.

“Bayern are still not open to signing Cristiano Ronaldo so let’s see if they change their position but as of late it’s a no from Bayern.”

What does the future hold for Ronaldo?

Whilst there is some surprise that the Euro 2016 winner has decided that he wants to leave Old Trafford after less than 12 months, it is hard to imagine a footballer ranked as one of the greatest of all time to settle for UEFA Europa League football next season.

And United would be losing their most productive attacking outlet over the last campaign, should Ronaldo depart, with the forward scoring 24 goals and providing three assists in 38 appearances last season, according to Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile he would act as a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku, should he join Thomas Tuchel’s side, with the £97.5m signing last summer moving back to Inter Milan on a season long loan ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Ronaldo still ranks impressively compared to his fellow forwards in the game, ranking in the top 8% of forwards across Europe’s top five leagues and European competition for non-penalty goals per 90 minutes (0.61) according to FBref.

The same stats provider also has the five-time Champions League winner in the top 3% of forwards for pass completion rate per 90 minutes (82.1%) suggesting that not only does he know where the back of the net is, but he is capable of providing as well.

And a SofaScore rating of 7.26 for his Premier League performances last season suggest that despite his age, he is still capable of performing to an exceptional standard when called upon.

Ronaldo may be aged 37, but there are currently no signs of him slowing down, and any club would be improved if they had his services at their disposal.
