Arsenal still have Serge Gnabry on their "longer list" of targets, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners have already secured four summer arrivals in Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus, but Mikel Arteta is still hoping to add another attacking player to his squad.

What's the latest news involving Gnabry?

Arteta's side looked in the driving seat to sign Leeds ace Raphinha, although the Brazilian now looks set to join either Barcelona or Chelsea, meaning Arsenal will need to look towards other targets.

According to the Daily Star, the north London outfit could seek a move for former player Gnabry, who's available for only £40m, with just 12 months left on his Bayern Munich contract.

Gnabry came through the ranks at the Emirates Stadium but scored just once in 18 appearances before a failed loan spell at West Brom led to him leaving for the Bundesliga.

Impressive spells with Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim caught the attention of Bayern Munich, where he's established himself as one of the top wingers in European football, with ex-United man Rio Ferdinand describing him as 'world-class'.

What did Jones say about Gnabry?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "Gnabry is someone they will have to look into and obviously they know a lot about already.

"It's true that he's not a serious option at this moment in time, they're not aggressively going after him, but he is a background option. I know for a fact he's on their longer list."

Why would Arsenal want to sign Gnabry?

Despite having some of the most highly-rated youngsters in the Premier League, one of the reasons Arsenal failed to finish in the top four was down to their lack of goals.

The Gunners scored 61 goals in the league, which was fewer than Leicester, who finished eighth, and only one more than seventh place West Ham.

Therefore, Arteta clearly needs some extra firepower in the forward areas, and Gnabry offers that in abundance.

The Germany international has already racked up 98 career goals, while he boasts an impressive record of 104 goal contributions in 171 appearances in his four years with Munich, which has helped him win 11 trophies with the Bundesliga giants, including the Champions League in 2020.

Arsenal fans might still be feeling frustrated after missing out on Raphinha, but Gnabry would be an excellent alternative.
