An NXT 2.0 star has admitted that he’d love to face WWE legend John Cena, and he doesn’t care where it takes place.

Cameron Grimes already has a stacked NXT CV, having been both Million Dollar Champion and NXT North American champion and remains one of the few remaining stars left from the black and gold era.

Tonight, the 28-year-old could top it all by winning the NXT Championship when he challenges Bron Breakker the special NXT: The Great American Bash show.

However, Grimes is already looking beyond a title victory and has his eyes on one WWE’s biggest ever names. Speaking to Sportskeeda, Cameron says that once he’s won the NXT Championship, he wants to face John Cena.

So, when I win the NXT Championship, I would love to defend that against John Cena. I feel like anyone that’s in this business would love the opportunity to be against John Cena in any type of light. You can book it in a Coconut show in Largo. I don’t care if it’s on television. You can just do it in the Performance Center, and we won’t even have to turn the cameras on and I would love that opportunity.

Cene returned to Raw on 27 June show to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his WWE debut, and Grimes revealed that he’s always been a big Cena fan and was once lucky enough to catch one of his t-shirts when he attended a Raw show as a fan in 2007.

“I think it’s absolutely incredible that John Cena is back,” Grimes said. “That man is a freak. John Cena is the man. I look up to him so much and any time that he can come back and truly be the star that he is on our show, I’m tuning in every time, all right. “I remember around like 2007 maybe, RAW was in Raleigh, NC and I got to go to the show.

John Cena came out and he took his shirt off, he whipped it around and he threw it in the crowd. I caught that t-shirt and I remember catching that t-shirt and the first thing I did was look at the tag on the shirt. I had to know what size t-shirt he was wearing. He had a XXXL t-shirt on and it was still tight on his arms.”

During his appearance on Raw, Cena said that he doesn’t know when he’ll be back in a WWE ring. Many fans had speculated he’ll return at SummerSlam for a match with Theory, after the pair have continued to wage war against each over across social media.

Yet, it was announced on Raw last night that Theory will challenge Bobby Lashley in a rematch for the United States Championship at SummerSlam later this month.
