Leeds United are looking to welcome more reinforcements to Elland Road and the addition of Club Brugge attacker Charles de Ketelaere is 'definitely a possibility', according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

The Whites have already forked out close to £60million this summer, but head coach Jesse Marsch is keen on acquiring de Ketelaere ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.

What's the latest news involving de Ketelaere?

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed de Ketelaere is being monitored as Leeds prepare for life without fan favourite Raphinha.

It appears the Whites have upped the ante in their pursuit as they are understood to be locked in negotiations with Club Brugge.

The development comes despite RTL Sport suggesting de Ketelaere has already made it clear that he is not interested in joining Leeds ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Premier League rivals Leicester City are also among the 21-year-old's suitors and Club Brugge have set a price tag of £34.5million as they look to deter admirers.

The hefty valuation has not put off AC Milan though, as they remain keen having held a long-term interest.

What has Tim Thornton said about de Ketelaere?

Thornton believes de Ketelaere is firmly among Marsch's targets as the 2022/23 season draws closer.

The Sky Sports journalist feels a move for the Club Brugge attacker could be on the cards as Leeds look to add more fresh faces to their squad.

Thornton told GIVEMESPORT: "I think he's one that's definitely a credible name.

"If they can come to an agreement, he is definitely a possibility as one of their summer recruits."

Why is de Ketelaere of interest to Leeds?

Leeds had to go prolonged periods of last term without first-choice striker Patrick Bamford, with him missing 30 matches through injury.

Being unable to call upon their focal point in attack nearly cost the Whites their place in the Premier League as they finished just three points clear of the drop zone.

It seems Marsch, who was appointed as Leeds' head coach in February, sees de Ketelaere as a potentially exciting option to provide Bamford with competition.

That is because it is understood that the decision-makers at Elland Road see the eight-cap Belgium international as a secondary striker or false nine.

De Ketelaere shone when featuring predominantly in a central role last season and bagged 18 goals - along with 10 assists - in 49 outings, emphasising that he could be a shrewd addition to Leeds' squad.
