Arsenal could 'look at' bringing 'dangerous' £60m forward to the Emirates

Arsenal might “look into” bringing former player Serge Gnabry back to the Emirates if they miss out on Raphinha, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Leeds United winger is thought to be a key attacking target for Mikel Arteta, but the north London club have fallen behind rivals Chelsea and Barcelona in the race for his signature.

What is the latest news involving Raphinha and Gnabry?

As per Sky Sports, Chelsea are trying to sign Raphinha right now; however, that has been complicated by Barcelona’s interest in the player.

ESPN recently reported that Barcelona have tabled a bid for Raphinha and that the Brazilian is prepared to patiently wait for a transfer to the Camp Nou.

Prior, The Athletic claimed Arsenal had an offer for Raphinha turned down by Leeds, so the 25-year-old is someone who they clearly want as well.

As for Gnabry, his future at his current club is also in major doubt. He has just one year remaining on his contract, and Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic recently hinted that the German could be sold if he does not come to an agreement on a new deal.

“We really want to keep him. I hope that he chooses Bayern,” Salihamidzic told Sky Sport Germany (via 90min). “If a player doesn’t want to decide for the club, then we can find a solution that makes everyone happy.”

What has Jones said about Gnabry and Arsenal?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Arsenal could consider signing Gnabry this summer if they fail to land Raphinha.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “Once the Raphinha deal is definitely dead in the water – they still have some small hope over that – then they will turn to somebody else, and I think Gnabry is one they might still look into.”

Should Arsenal target Gnabry if they miss out on Raphinha?

It is a logical move. In fact, given his contract situation and ability, Gnabry should probably be above Raphinha on Arsenal’s list.

Last term, Gnabry scored 17 goals in all competitions, while in the 2019/20 season, he registered an impressive 23 times. The campaign in between, the 26-year-old found the back of the net on 11 occasions, which is not groundbreaking, but it is still clear to see that he is a productive forward.

Do you know this obscure player Arsenal signed in the January transfer window?

In terms of how much he could cost if he were to leave the Allianz Arena this summer, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs recently told GMS that Gnabry, who has been described as a “dangerous” and “direct” player by Transfermarkt’s Stefan Bienkowski, has a price tag of around £60m.

Whether Arsenal would be willing to pay that remains to be seen, but Gnabry’s performances in recent years warrant that kind of fee.
