Zhou Guanyu's crash at the British Grand Prix is one that has been seen time and again since Sunday afternoon, with it still frankly incredible he was relatively unscathed in the aftermath.

The Chinese driver was simply a passenger in the very early stages of the race at Silverstone on Sunday afternoon, with him getting his Alfa Romeo flipped over by George Russell's Mercedes at over 150mph as the field charged into the first corner.

Indeed, Zhou found himself hurtling towards the crash barriers upside down at high speed, and quite frankly it looked as though he'd be suffering a serious injury if not worse once the car had eventually come to a halt.

As ever, though, Formula 1's safety levels continue to astound and a couple of hours later he'd be posting to social media saying he was fine, with it also apparent that no fans were hurt in the incident either, which is great to hear.

The Alfa Romeo flew through the gravel trap, hit the tyre barriers and then the catch fence behind, which protects fans from debris and, thankfully, it appears to have done its job in that respect.

Indeed, as per Formula 1 News, the circuit revealed that: “everyone is absolutely fine,” that was in the vicinity of the crash, from marshals to fans, and that is simply good news.

Things could have been so much worse on Sunday, but again the highest safety protocols and advancements turned a horrible incident into one that was dramatic but crucially, not tragic.
