Barcelona pulled off a masterstroke when they signed Pedri in 2020.

The Spanish midfielder made his debut for Las Palmas at the age of 16 and was a mainstay for the club in the 2019/20 season.

His performances alerted Barcelona, who paid €5 million for the then 17-year-old.

Despite his youth and small frame, Pedri immediately emerged into a key player for Barcelona.

He played 52 times for the club in the 2020/21 season as he showcased his talent to the world.

Pedri suffered a frustrating 2021/22 campaign, though. He struggled with numerous injuries and a thigh problem sustained in April ended his season early.

The youngster will be looking to put his injury woes behind him in the upcoming campaign.

He reported back for Barcelona's pre-season training earlier this week and he looks in great shape.

Pedri has clearly been working on his physique over the summer. Photos have emerged which show his body transformation over the past few years and it is impressive. View them below...

Pedri is back to full fitness and he means business.

Still just 19, it wouldn't be a surprise if he were to put even more muscle in the future.

Pedri was brilliant as he guided Spain to the Euro 2020 semi-final last summer.

Spain manager Luis Enrique has backed him to make the difference once again in the upcoming World Cup, which starts in November.

"To me, the player that has more projection in terms of image on that team is Pedri, he won't be out of the team," Jose Enrique told Stats Perform, per Yahoo.

"You also have Ferran Torres doing well for Barcelona and Pau [Torres], the central defender of Villarreal; I think he will be key for the team as well."

"But to choose one who will make the difference 100 per cent, and that already did in the past, it is Pedri.

"For me, he is the star of the national team, the Iniesta, the Xavi. Back in that day it was different because there were many and that is why Spain won everything. But if you mention Spain now, the first player that comes to my mind is Pedri."
