Glover Teixeira has made it crystal clear what he needs to do differently in a rematch against Jiri Prochazka.

Last month at UFC 275, Glover Teixeira and Jiri Prochazka went to war in an incredible back and forth for the UFC light heavyweight championship. Both men put everything they had into their main event showdown with many dubbing it a Fight of the Year contender, and potentially one of the best light heavyweight title fights of all-time.

Teixeira appeared to be the one who was on his way to victory after a gruelling five rounds but with just 28 seconds left in the fight, the Brazilian was submitted by Prochazka in one of the most dramatic finishes in recent memory.

A lot of fans are curious to see whether or not he’ll get an immediate rematch and when asked about what he needs to do in order to win if he can secure it, the 42-year-old had an amusing response.

“Yeah, not get choked out! But uh, that’s it, pretty much, that’s it! Do the same thing again and I’m gonna win, just not getting choked out. Same thing again and I’m gonna win, so, yeah, it’s as simple as that.”

Teixeira was then asked how he feels physically in the wake of such a brutal fight.

“The fight was a little brutal but it was nothing crazy, and thank god I had no injuries, no major injuries. To be honest, the biggest injury was in my neck when I took him down in the fourth round and my neck was stuck under his rib. But it’s normal now.”

The former champ went on to suggest that a rematch in Brazil next year could be on the cards.

Who will get the shot?

The UFC may end up going down the route of an immediate rematch as a result of how entertaining the first bout was, but there’s also the looming presence of former champion Jan Blachowicz to consider.

The king of Polish Power vaulted back into title consideration with a win over Aleksandar Rakic and with Prochazka being a fresh match-up for him, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the promotion reward the veteran.
