Leeds United ‘definitely like’ Noa Lang, while Cody Gakpo is also ‘admired’ by the club’s hierarchy, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The west Yorkshire outfit are believed to be in the market for another winger this summer as star attacker Raphinha continues to be linked with an imminent departure.

What is the latest news involving Leeds?

David Ornstein of The Athletic has reported that Chelsea are close to agreeing a fee in the region of £55 million with Leeds for Raphinha, although The Times claim Barcelona have not given up hope of securing his signature.

Irrespective of where the Brazil international moves to, his exit would leave a significant void on the right-hand-side at Elland Road next term and replacing him will surely be a priority for manager Jesse Marsch.

The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath revealed that Leeds are ‘long-term admirers’ of Lang last month, with the player also openly admitting he received ‘concrete’ interest from the Whites last summer.

Meanwhile, French outlet FootMercato have revealed that Leeds are ‘very attentive to the situation’ of PSV Eindhoven’s Gakpo, who has had a €30m (£26m) price tag placed on him by the Eredivisie giants.

What has Jones said about Leeds?

Marsch has already brought in Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra during the current transfer window.

And Jones has informed GiveMeSport that Leeds have also been ‘looking at some other exciting names’ including Lang and Gakpo.

He told GMS: “We know that they've been looking at some other really exciting names. Noa Lang is a long-term target, somebody that they definitely like. Gakpo is definitely admired and somebody that they've had on their list.”

Would Lang and Gakpo be good signings?

Lang, who is valued at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, helped fire Club Bruges to the Belgian title last term, bagging nine goals and providing a further 15 assists in his 48 appearances across all competitions.

The Netherlands international is comfortable playing out wide or through the middle and also contains a top-class delivery from set-pieces.

On the other hand, Gakpo, who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt, racked up 36 goal contributions in 46 outings for PSV in 2021/22, helping them claim the Dutch Cup.

Both attackers, therefore, could prove to be valuable additions to Leeds’ forward line, softening the blow of Raphinha’s sale.
