Michael Jordan has been announced as the cover star for the upcoming NBA 2K23, as per ESPN.
One of the greatest basketball players of all time, Jordan will be on the cover of the new game.
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was on the cover of NBA 2K22 and there was another cover, for the 75th anniversary of the NBA, with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant.
The trailer for this year’s game has already been revealed and it shows classic Jordan moments from the 1980s and 1990s.
Of course, Jordan dominated throughout that period and won Rookie of the Year, six NBA titles, five league MVP awards, an Olympic gold medal which was won in 1992, and was also called on to play in 14 All-Star Games.
Jordan eventually retired for the last time in 2003 and 2K has had him on the cover of three other NBA games, including 2K11, 2K12 and the special edition of 2K16.
There have also been screenshots revealed showing Jordan in the game, from both the 80s and the 90s. Jordan will also receive the first 100 overall rating in the game’s history.
The game is currently scheduled to be released on September 9th of this year, and there will be two editions of the game, a Michael Jordan Edition and a Championship Edition. Pre-orders will be available from July 7th.
As per Dbltap, Alfie Brody, the vice-president of global marketing strategy for NBA 2K, said: “After making 23 the most recognisable number in sports.
“It was only fitting that for NBA 2K23 we introduce the Michael Jordan Edition. Additionally, we’re thrilled to introduce a brand new premium edition of the game with the NBA 2K23 Championship Edition, as no other player embodies the word ‘champion’ like Jordan.”
