Derek Chisora has offered some words of wisdom to Anthony Joshua ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

We’ve seen plenty of colourful figures come and go in the world of boxing in the last few decades but few have been quite as unique as Derek Chisora. The man known as ‘Del Boy’ has been in there with some of the most intimidating figures of his generation and every single time, he goes in and puts on a show - for better or worse.

His record of 32-12 speaks for itself and this weekend, he’ll attempt to get back in the win column when he goes to war with Kubrat Pulev for the second time.

A big victory could earn him a date with yet another big name, but of course, the biggest heavyweight clash on the horizon is set to go down between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua next month in Saudi Arabia.

In anticipation of Joshua attempting to earn back the belts, Chisora has offered him some advice in a recent interview with DAZN.

“He [Joshua] has to hit the guy [Usyk] hard.”

“He’s always on different angles, AJ has to sort that out to stop moving him,” Chisora said.

“There’s only one way you stop moving a guy like that and that’s hit him on the elbows, hips, everywhere, his movement will become less.”

What happened in the first fight?

Last September at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Anthony Joshua walked in as the favourite against Oleksandr Usyk - although it’s worth noting that plenty of pundits felt as if the Ukrainian had a real chance.

In the end, Usyk put on a world class performance to defeat Joshua on the scorecards and capture the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles.

Usyk knows what kind of game plan he needs to implement whereas Joshua has a lot of folks guessing regarding what he’s going to do.

Chisora put on a good showing when he battled Usyk in October 2020 and if Joshua can try to utilise the same kind of intensity, there’s every chance he could walk out of Jeddah as a three-time world champion.
