Arsenal could make decision on £30m star 'in the coming days' at the Emirates

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta applauds his players

Arsenal could up the ante in their pursuit of Youri Tielemans ‘in the coming days’ as the Emirates Stadium outfit has still not made an official bid for the Leicester City star, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have spent close to £90million on fresh faces this summer, but they may be preparing to dip into their pockets again as they look to win the race for Tielemans.

What’s the latest news involving Tielemans?

According to The Sun, Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Tielemans and are ready to make a firm offer.

The report suggests the north Londoners are confident of sealing a £30million deal for the 52-cap Belgium international despite facing competition from Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Clubs are looking to pounce as Tielemans has entered the final 12 months of his £120,000-per-week contract at Leicester, leading to uncertainty over his long-term future.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs has previously told GIVEMESPORT that the central midfielder has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, seemingly putting Mikel Arteta’s side in pole position to win the race for his services.

But the Gunners’ failure to head to the negotiating table with Tielemans’ current employers has resulted in Manchester United being put on red alert, with new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag known to be an admirer.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Tielemans?

Romano understands Arsenal are yet to test Leicester’s resolve with a formal offer despite the club holding internal discussions since January.

However, the transfer guru believes the Gunners are set to make a key decision as they look to fight off fellow suitors for the Belgian’s signature.

He feels boss Arteta and technical director Edu are planning the next course of action at the Emirates Stadium.

Romano told GIVEMESPORT: “There is still no proposal, so maybe they will go step by step in the market and decide in the coming days or weeks what they want to do for Tielemans.”

Would Tielemans be a good signing?

Tielemans has been described by Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers as ‘one of Europe’s top midfielders’ and, with that being the case, he would be an asset to any club.

He has made 120 appearances in the Premier League and that will be an attraction for Arteta as it means he will not need to be given time to adjust to the rigours of the English top flight.

Statistics show Tielemans averaged more goals, pressures and blocks than Arsenal central midfielders Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga per 90 minutes last season, so it could be suggested that he would be an upgrade on the Gunners’ current options.
