Tottenham are still haggling over a price with Middlesbrough for the services of Djed Spence, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Antonio Conte has been chasing the England Under-21 ace throughout the summer transfer window, but the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee.

What's the latest news involving Spence?

Following weeks of talks between the two clubs, Spurs appeared to finally reach a breakthrough last month when Sky Sports reported that Spence was in advanced talks over a move to the Champions League club.

The Telegraph backed up those claims by suggesting that Tottenham were 'edging towards an agreement' with Middlesbrough of around £15m, with Spence set to undergo a medical before Antonio Conte's side fly out for their pre-season tour of South Korea this weekend.

But speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel denied that Spence is close to becoming a Spurs player.

He said: "The views I was getting from Tottenham today is that [the Djed Spence deal] wasn't close at all and there's still quite a way from coming to an agreement."

What did Jones say about Spence?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It's this price hurdle they need to get over and Boro are holding out. They want as much as they can get out of this deal.

"Spurs feel that £20m is too much money to be paying, but ultimately they do really like this guy and would like to get it done."

Are Tottenham close to signing anyone?

Despite contrasting reports regarding Spence's future, Conte could still have another player through the door before his side jet off to Asia on Saturday.

According to The Athletic, Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Barcelona star Clement Lenglet, who's set to become their fifth summer signing after Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.

Fabrizio Romano added to those claims by stating that the France international is one step away from becoming a Spurs player after personal terms were agreed recently.
