In their successful basketball careers, Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi still have many things they’d like to accomplish. Today marks the completion of another milestone for them as they become the cover stars for NBA 2K23.

This year's WNBA Edition of NBA 2K23 will feature WNBA superstars and closest friends on the cover.

When NBA 2K22 was launched with a GameStop-exclusive cover featuring Candace Parker, a seasoned WNBA player, it made history.

Following this, 2K Sports has chosen to release a second exclusive cover at GameStop for NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition, featuring Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird, two of the league's biggest superstars in the last nearly two decades.

The Michael Jordan Edition and Championship Edition, the game's premium editions, were unveiled on Tuesday, kicking off the announcement cycle for NBA 2K23.

Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird may be featured on the game's cover for the NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition, but both of their jerseys will also be included as additional material with this edition of the game.

Taurasi, who has played in the WNBA since its beginning, has won five Olympic gold medals, is the league's all-time leading scorer, is a three-time champion, and has won two WNBA Finals MVP awards.

Sue Bird has won four WNBA championships, is the league's all-time assists leader and has appeared in the league's All-Star game thirteen times.

In a press release, Taurasi remarked: "It really is an incredible feeling to see your hard work memorialized on the cover of a game like NBA 2K23." In the same press release, Bird added that "it's amazing to see myself on the cover of a video game that has such a cultural impact."

Additionally, NBA 2K is teaming up with the WNBA stars to donate $100,000 to Every Kid Sports, enabling kids to participate in youth basketball leagues all around the nation. Over 550 girls from low-income families will have their registration costs covered thanks to the generosity.

The WNBA Edition of the game is only accessible at GameStop locations in the US and Canada. The cover unveiling did not include any information about the price or the book's contents beyond Bird and Taurasi's jerseys. However, when pre-orders open, complete information will be made public.
