Arsenal have Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry on their radar, although they're unlikely to sign him this summer, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The £58.5m-rated star has been linked with a return to the Emirates Stadium with just 12 months remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena.

What's the latest news involving Gnabry?

According to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs, Arsenal are monitoring Gnabry's situation having missed out on signing Raphinha, who looks set to join either Chelsea or Barcelona.

Gnabry, who was admired by ex-manager Arsene Wenger, only played 18 times during his first spell with the Gunners, although each of those came when Mikel Arteta was still playing for the club, which could help the Spaniard if they enter the negotiations stage.

Since leaving north London, the 26-year-old has become one of the top attacking players in European football, with his impressive rise helping him win multiple trophies with Bayern Munich.

But Gnabry might cost Arsenal in the region of £50m, and while that's similar to what they would have been forced to pay for Raphinha, they know that waiting 12 months could see them land the German on a free transfer once his deal runs out.

Therefore, despite Arsenal's interest in re-signing the forward, O'Rourke doesn't expect Gnabry to return to the Emirates before September's deadline.

What did O'Rourke say about Gnabry?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think Gnabry has been on the radar of Arsenal, although I don't think it's a deal they'll be able to do this summer.

"Obviously his connections with the club having previously been there before he returned to Germany, so he knows all about the club."

How did Gnabry perform last season?

Despite not hitting the heights of previous years, it was still another impressive campaign of goals and assists.

Across all competitions, he scored 17 times and laid on 10 assists for his teammates to help Bayern win yet another Bundesliga title, with his WhoScored rating the fifth-best in the squad.

Only Robert Lewandowski (35) scored more goals than the ex-Gunner, while only five other players in Bayern's squad managed more assists in Germany's top-flight.

Gnabry was also in the top six players for most shots, key passes, and dribbles per appearance, proving that he's still a classy operator at the top level and would therefore be a fine addition for Arteta, whether that be this summer or in 2023.
